Hypotheekverstrekker Bank of Scotland is onderdeel van HBOS, een fusie tussen Halifax en The Royal Bank of Scotland, en is de grootste hypotheekbank van Europa. De bank is sinds 1999 actief op de nederlandse hypotheekmarkt en onderscheidt zich, naar eigen zeggen, van andere financiële instellingen door met een eigenzinnige visie en een vernieuwend businessmodel de hypotheekmarkt te benaderen. Over Bank of Scotland:
De Bank of Scotland is opgericht in 1695. In 2001 fuseerde Bank of Scotland met Halifax. Zo ontstond HBOS. In 2009 fuseerde HBOS met Lloyds TSB waardoor Lloyds Banking Group ontstond. Lloyds Banking Group is de grootste retailbank van het Vernigd Koninkrijk. De Bank of Scotland wordt vaak ten onrechte verward met de Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). Laatstgenoemde behoort tot het bankentrio dat de ABN Amro overgenomen heeft.
